Dr Sophie Banfield

Clinical Psychologist

Sophie is a Child and Adolescent psychologist specialising in working with neurodivergent individuals.

Sophie conducts comprehensive assessments to determine areas of strength and challenges and the impact that these are having on an individual’s day-to-day life. She works with individuals to harness their strengths to compensate for and improve the aspects of their functioning that create challenges for them. She collaborates with a person’s health care team, including (if applicable) a Paediatrician, Speech Pathologist, Occupational Therapist and Educators/Employers.

Individuals may be experiencing challenges socialising with others, anxiety, burnout, low mood, communicating with others, attention and concentration, impulsivity and learning.

  • Adjustment difficulties
  • Challenging Behaviours and Parenting Skills
  • Specialising in Cognitive behavioural therapy and Social Thinking

Sophie is a member of the Clinical College of the Australian Psychological Society. In addition to her academic qualifications, Sophie has obtained advanced training in Social Thinking, the Early Start Denver Model and the PEERS Program. Sophie is approved for Medicare. Whilst not registered for the NDIS, Sophie can see self-managed individuals.

  • Professional Development Workshops regarding anxiety and Autism Spectrum Disorders
  • Information sessions for parent groups regarding child and adolescent mental health concerns and autism spectrum disorders
