Psychology Assessment Internship

Our assessment internship is designed for psychology students interested in developing their understanding of autism, cognitive and academic assessments.

Depending on your stage of study, experience and the requirements of the internship, opportunities may include:

  • Observing an experienced clinician conduct an assessment
  • Learning about autism, cognitive and academic assessment processes
  • Discussing referral questions, assessment selection and case formulation
  • Developing skills in scoring and interpreting assessment results
  • Contributing to psychological report writing under supervision
  • Observing feedback sessions with clients and families
  • Participating in clinical discussions and reflective learning
  • Learning about ethical practice, confidentiality and professional communication

Interns will be able to follow an assessment from the initial appointment through to formulation, report writing and feedback. All participation is subject to client consent, clinical suitability and appropriate supervision.

Placement opportunities may also be available for students whose university requirements align with the services and supervision available at Entelechy Therapy.

Support Worker Roles

Support Worker roles provide an opportunity to work directly with neurodivergent people and people with disabilities within their everyday environments.

The role may involve supporting clients to:

  • Develop daily living and independence skills
  • Participate in recreational and community activities
  • Build confidence in social and community settings
  • Practise emotional regulation and communication strategies
  • Work towards their individual goals
  • Increase their participation and independence

These roles are well suited to students who are reliable, patient, flexible and interested in developing practical experience working with people with diverse support needs.

Support Workers must understand the importance of maintaining professional boundaries, respecting client choice and dignity, following support plans and communicating effectively with clients, families and treating professionals.

Allied Health Assistant Roles

Allied Health Assistants work under the direction and supervision of an allied health professional. The role provides valuable experience in implementing structured programs developed by psychologists, speech pathologists and other clinicians.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Delivering activities and strategies prescribed by the supervising clinician
  • Supporting clients to practise communication, social, emotional regulation or daily living skills
  • Preparing therapy materials and resources
  • Recording observations and client progress
  • Providing feedback to the supervising clinician
  • Participating in supervision and professional development
  • Supporting the general delivery of clinical programs

This role is ideal for students seeking experience within an allied health setting while developing their communication, observation, documentation and professional practice skills.

About You

Depending on the role, applicants may also require:

  • A current National Police Record Check
  • An Employee Working with Children Check
  • An NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • A current driver licence and access to a reliable vehicle
  • The right to work in Australia
  • Completion of relevant NDIS worker orientation modules
  • First Aid and CPR certification
